They don't call the Father Dagda "The Good Father" because He is good. They call our our Father Dagda "The Good Father" because he's good at everything He does.

"Lord of the Heavens, Father of the gods and men - The Earth God. High King of the Tuatha De Danann. God of death and rebirth and master of all trades. He is lord of perfect knowledge. His cauldron (The Undry) supplied unlimited food. He also had a living oak harp which caused the seasons to change in their order. Protection, warriors, knowledge, magic, fire, prophecy, weather, reincarnation, the arts, initiation, patron of priests, The Sun, healing, regeneration, prosperity and plenty. Music. First among magicians, warriors, artisans, all knowledge. He is a great all round deity to honor regularly."

The Dagda is the supreme god of the Celtic mythologyCeltic pantheon, a son of Danu and Beli. The word means "The Good God", (Old Irish- "deagh dia", Mod. Irish- "dea-Dia" not goo in a moral sense, but good at everything, or all-powerful. The Dagda is a father-figure, a protector of the tribe and the basic Celtic god of whom other male Celtic deities were variants. Celic gods we largely unspecialised entities, and perhaps we should see them as a clan rather than a formal pantheon. In a sense, all the Celtic gods and goddesses were like the Greek Apollo, who could never be described as the god of any one thing.
